A urological condition won’t stop me – Urology Awareness Month

September is 'Urology Awareness Month' and it has been a very busy month for paraplegic Andy 'Buddy' Holley, who proves that urology doesn't get in the way of living life to the full...

This year’s wheelchair rugby league has come to the end of the season, and the Hereford Harriers, proudly sponsored by Clinisupplies and Fluidmaster, have finished top of the Championship League and have gained promotion to next season’s Super League!

Aside from the rugby, I have been planning a fund-raising event to raise money for the Hereford Harriers, my self-funded wheelchair rugby club, who are in need of some new rugby wheelchairs and training equipment.

I like to challenge myself at every opportunity, so I've put together a team of friends, and on September 26th , I will be handcycling, along with the team, 25miles to Pen-Y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons. I'll then be transferring into my self-adapted off road wheelchair, and 'Buddy's Bonkers Beaconeers' are scaling and descending 886m of the highest peak in the South Wales mountain range. Then we will transfer back to our bikes and cycle the 25miles back to where we started.

If you’d like to support me and the team in this challenge, please visit the link below to make a donation and help 'Buddy's Bonkers Beaconeers' challenge worth our while and hit our target.

I'm a full-time wheelchair user and self-catheterize. I manage my bladder control with the same process and attitude whether I'm working, playing rugby or climbing mountains in my wheelchair. It's only an issue if I allow to be one.
